From the moment I could ponder,
You have sought me, near and yonder,
From the mountain’s peak to the restless sea,
Ever steadfast, You are my plea.
My one true hope, that when breath does fade,
The fire within shall not be swayed.
Like bread in famine, or water’s flow,
In deep desire, You’re all I know.
A beacon of promise through life’s despair,
Death but a passage, Your light still there.
Beyond the yew trees’ shadowed crest,
Beyond all ending, You are my rest.
When strength is frail and soul is bare,
It’s You I trust in silent prayer.
Death’s veiled threshold – a gateway wide,
To eternal radiance, at Your side.
Messiah, chosen and divine,
Anointed Saviour, hope’s design.
A man, yet more – a gift unfurled,
The Christ who saves, to heal the world.
