The Power of the Sacrament of Marriage

Our marriage, after enduring a severe crisis marked by infidelity, began to flourish with an unprecedented strength of love and faith. My husband returned, and we now share a happy marriage. I can confidently say that our love has matured significantly.

Yes, it is different — much like the wine at the wedding in Cana of Galilee. For “where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” (Romans 5:20).

However, continuous cooperation with this grace is essential. The more we give of ourselves, the more God supports us.

I salvaged my marriage despite being abandoned by my closest ones and left to fend for myself. Yet, I felt the grace of heaven surrounding me.

I preserved our relationship even when my husband expressed that he no longer loved me. I upheld the dignity of our sacrament and fought for it, even when I was told, “it’s not you who breaks the vow!”

Before God, I vowed not to leave my spouse until death. I took responsibility for our marriage and prayed for my husband’s conversion, invoking Saint Joseph, the Litany to the Holy Spirit, and the Litany to the Most Precious Blood of Christ, as he was then in a state of spiritual death.

Many graces await each of us, but we must first ask for them ourselves. God does not impose Himself on anyone; it is we who often shut Him out.

He is there, patiently waiting for us to stop struggling with ourselves and our lives. Therefore, let’s direct our first steps toward God, and we will receive peace, strength, solace, and guidance for all our actions.

I strive to live this way and share my experiences with you, illustrating how grace operates in my life. True love begins with loving “for worse.” And that is what happened to us.

Our love endured a significant trial. I learned that to love is, above all, to forgive. Miracles occurred — one after another — resulting in an outpouring of graces!

We received “better wine” in the end. Such is the power of the sacrament of marriage; we must entrust everything to Jesus. It is always too early to give up, and even in suffering, one can find happiness.
